    • Research Papers and Websites Please bring 2 hard copies of written requirements for review prior to judging (for web, bring just process paper and annotated bibliography)
    • All: STAPLED left-hand corner - No binding or portfolio covers!
  • Helpful Hints per Category
  • Documentaries – If you have a YouTube account, save your documentary online. If that is not possible, bring at 2 flash drives with your project saved as a movie file for Windows format (.mp4, .wmv, .mov, etc.) AND/OR saved in your Pinellas County Schools o365 online drive (if you are a PCS student) OR saved on your own laptop that you bring with speakers. To connect with Largo High School projectors you will need an HDMI cord. Please test your format on multiple PCS Windows computers beforehand to check for compatibility.
  • Exhibits - Bring an emergency kit (tape, glue, scissors, etc.) and extension cord if you have technology and indicated in your registration that you needed an outlet. Remember that exhibit board setup is from 8-8:45am.
  • Performances - Bring an emergency kit (tape, glue, scissors, safety pins, etc.) Test any/all multimedia!
  • Research Papers – Bring an extra hard copy to review before judging. Keep it protected, in case it rains.

*There is an Office Depot north of the school on Missouri Ave--for emergencies! (Friday and Saturday hours: 8am-9pm)

  • Helpful Hints for Student Interviews and Presentations
  • Shake hands with the judges. Give assertive and positive eye contact.
  • Dress neatly and appropriately. Think about how you want to make a great first impression.
  • Give a great introduction (“Hello”, your name, and the title of your project)
  • Let your project speak for you, unless judges ask questions do not “present” your project.
  • Thank the judges for their time and support.
  • Don’t get frustrated with yourself about little silly mistakes; everyone is nervous!
  • Feel great about what you’ve done! All your hard work paid off and today should be a fun experience!
  • Possible judge interview questions might include: How does your topic relate to the theme? What gave you the idea to research this topic? What was the most influential source that you used? How did primary sources help you to understand this topic? How did you come up with (script/design) for your project? What do you feel were the most important factors that caused the event to occur? How id your historical topic significant in our world today?
  • Traffic Flow and Waiting for Interview Time

There will be signs to direct traffic on campus. The hallway in Building 2 is not large enough for families to wait together for a student’s judging time, especially with performances and the accompanying props. There is also no seating in the hallway. For these reasons students are not to enter the hallway until 10 minutes before their assigned judging time. Parents may wait for their children outside of Building 2. There is seating in the cafeteria and a group of outdoor tables with umbrellas. This will be sufficient space for waiting and preparing.

  • Additional Activities around Largo
  • Largo Mall is approximately 3 miles south on Missouri Ave. (Seminole Blvd.) and Ulmerton Road. There is a movie theater and shops.
  • Largo Central Park and Largo Library are across East Bay, just south of the Largo High campus.

  • Student Transportation

Each student must notify his/her sponsoring teacher as to how each student is arriving/departing. All students must be supervised by a parent or chaperone.

  • Need assistance at the Fair?

Student volunteers from Rho Kappa Honor Society and National Honors Society will be available at multiple locations for emergencies!

Judge Criteria

Am I eligible to Judge? We need judges. We would be delighted to have you as a judge! Qualifications for judges are simple; a judge only needs to be an adult with an interest in helping students achieve their academic best. You don’t have to be a history expert!
